The Peninsula Club, on the shores of Lake Norman near Charlotte, North Carolina, has reopened following a renovation by Beau Welling and his design associate Chase Webb.
The pair have aimed to create a new and refreshed playing experience with work targeted at improving strategy, shotmaking opportunities and conditions.
“Working with The Peninsula Club over the last few years has been an honour for our team, and we’re thrilled to see these exciting capital improvements come to life and continue the club’s legacy as one of North Carolina’s premier golf properties,” said Welling. “The renovated golf course truly presents a strategic test of golf while remaining very enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels.”
Wadsworth Golf Construction executed the work. The course has been regrassed with Tahoma31 bermuda, TifEagle bermuda on greens and a new native fescue mix for out-of-play areas. Bunkers have been reworked to reduce the overall sand square footage. Trees have been removed to open up new sightlines and views of Lake Norman. And work has been completed on irrigation, drainage and cart paths.
